The Production group in Settings has three sections: Production Switcher, OBS Studio and vMix. Together they tell a booth which video switcher it drives and how to reach OBS or vMix on your church network. In Tech Manager you change the computer you are on; in the web app you change a booth you pick from a list.

Where to find it

Go to Settings (bottom of the sidebar, under Admin) and click Production Switcher, OBS Studio or vMix.

In the web app each of these sections starts with Booth machine: pick the booth computer you want to change. Under it the page says "Online — changes apply immediately" or "Offline — changes apply when it reconnects". If your church has no booth computers yet, the page says so and points you to enrolling one (see settings-account).

Choose the primary video switcher

  1. Go to Settings and click Production Switcher.
  2. In the web app, pick the booth in Booth machine.
  3. In Primary video switcher, pick OBS Studio, vMix or Blackmagic ATEM.

The choice saves at once. The Produce > Dashboard and Produce > Switcher pages follow it. You can also change it from the Dashboard's switcher menu.

Choose what clicking a scene does

  1. Go to Settings and click Production Switcher.
  2. In Switcher control scene click behavior, pick:
    • Click sends scene to Preview — the usual way: a click cues the scene, and you take it live separately.
    • Click sends scene to Output — a click puts the scene live immediately.

Turn restart offers on or off

  1. Go to Settings and click Production Switcher.
  2. Use the Self Healing switch. It is on by default, and it only ever offers a restart.

When a stream or recording that WorshipMetrics started stops without anyone stopping it from WorshipMetrics, the booth tells you at once: a pop-up on the booth and a row in Pulse > Alerts, each with Restart and Leave it off. Nothing restarts until someone clicks Restart, and the offer ends after 10 minutes. Stopping with your switcher's own button looks the same as a failure, so you may get an offer you do not need; choose Leave it off.

Set how often switcher previews refresh

  1. Go to Settings and click Production Switcher.
  2. Either pick a Recommended snapshot profile (Performance is 0.5 frames per second, Balanced is 1, Quality is 3), or pick an exact Snapshot refresh rate from 0.5 up to 20 fps.

This only changes how often the small scene previews in WorshipMetrics update. It never changes what OBS or vMix sends out. Faster previews use more of the computer's power; the higher rates depend on how fast the OBS computer is.

Connect OBS Studio (Tech Manager)

  1. In Tech Manager on the booth, go to Settings and click OBS Studio.
  2. If OBS runs on this computer, click Set up automatically. WorshipMetrics reads OBS's own settings, turns on its remote control if needed, and connects. You see "Connected to OBS" with the version.
  3. If OBS is on another computer, fill in OBS host (that computer's address; localhost means this computer), OBS port (usually 4455) and OBS password (if set) (found in OBS under Tools > WebSocket Server Settings).
  4. Click Test OBS connection.
  5. Click Save settings at the bottom.

Connect OBS Studio for a booth (web app)

  1. Go to Settings in the web app and click OBS Studio.
  2. Pick the booth in Booth machine.
  3. Fill in OBS host, OBS port and, only if OBS has one, OBS password. A saved password shows "Saved — type to replace"; leave it blank to keep it.
  4. Click Save.
  5. With the booth online, you can also click Test OBS connection, Set up automatically, or Stream to WorshipMetrics, which points OBS at your WorshipMetrics streaming address starting the next time OBS starts streaming. These run on the booth itself, because your browser cannot reach OBS directly.

Connect vMix

  1. Go to Settings and click vMix (in the web app, pick the booth in Booth machine first).
  2. Set vMix host (localhost when vMix runs on the booth) and vMix port (default 8088; in vMix see Settings > Web Controller).
  3. Pick a Replay duration, from 5 to 30 seconds: how much replay to export when you capture a clip from vMix.
  4. Set vMix recording folder to the same folder as the Export Clips Folder in vMix's Instant Replay settings. In Tech Manager, Browse... picks it; in the web app you type the path.
  5. Click Test vMix connection.
  6. Save: Save settings in Tech Manager, Save in the web app.

Troubleshooting

Test OBS connection says "Failed to connect"

Check that OBS is open and that its WebSocket server is turned on (OBS > Tools > WebSocket Server Settings), and that the port and password match. On the booth itself, Set up automatically usually fixes all three.

The Test buttons are greyed out in the web app

The booth is offline. Hovering a button says "No booth online — the test runs on the booth." Check the computer on Pulse > System Health.

vMix connects, but new clips are not found

vMix recording folder must be exactly the Export Clips Folder from vMix's Instant Replay settings.

Where do I connect an ATEM?

Settings has no ATEM connection section. Pick Blackmagic ATEM in Primary video switcher, then enter the ATEM's address on Produce > Dashboard.

Good to know

In both apps, Production Switcher choices save as soon as you pick them. OBS Studio and vMix wait for you to save: Save settings in Tech Manager, Save in the web app. A web save goes to the cloud and the booth follows; the message under the form says whether the booth has applied it yet ("Saved — applied on the booth." or "Saved to cloud — applies when the booth reconnects."). For the ATEM, OBS and vMix controls themselves, see Produce > Switcher and Produce > Dashboard.
