Destinations are where each live stream goes when you press Go Live: your own watch page, YouTube, Facebook, or any other service that gives you a server address and stream key (custom RTMP). One feed from your encoder goes to all of them at once, so you can stream to several places together.

Where to find it

Go to Publish > Live Streaming > Destinations. It works in the web app and in Tech Manager.

You never paste a YouTube or Facebook stream key. WorshipMetrics creates the live stream on your account for each service. Only a custom RTMP destination takes a key, because that service handed you one.

Connect YouTube or Facebook

  1. Go to Publish > Live Streaming > Destinations.
  2. In Connected Accounts, click the connect button on the YouTube or Facebook tile (it reads "Connect YouTube" or "Connect Facebook").
  3. For YouTube, sign in with the Google account that owns your channel and allow WorshipMetrics to create and manage live streams. For Facebook, sign in and allow it to list the Pages you can go live on.
  4. You come straight back to Destinations and see "YouTube connected" or "Facebook connected". The account appears in its tile.

To add another channel or account, click Connect another.

Add a destination

  1. Go to Publish > Live Streaming > Destinations and click + Add destination.
  2. Choose what kind:
    • YouTube channel: pick the Channel. Optionally give it a Name (blank uses the channel's name).
    • Facebook page: pick the Account, then the Page. Pages marked "Cannot go live" cannot be chosen. Optionally give it a Name.
    • Custom RTMP: type a Name, the Server URL (the service may call it server, ingest or RTMP URL) and the Stream key.
  3. If YouTube or Facebook is not connected yet, the dialog says to connect it first, with a button to do it. You come straight back afterwards.
  4. Click Save. You see "Destination added. It is on by default for new live streams."

Choose which destinations new live streams use

  1. Go to Publish > Live Streaming > Destinations.
  2. On each destination row, turn On by default on or off. Destinations that are on are ticked automatically when you schedule a new live stream.
  3. You can still change the choice for one service in that live stream's Destinations section when you schedule or edit it.

Your watch page is the first row. It says Always on with Go Live and shows its address. Who can see a service there is set per live stream: public, unlisted or private.

Edit, remove or delete a destination

  1. Go to Publish > Live Streaming > Destinations.
  2. For a custom RTMP destination, click Edit to change its name, server URL or key (leave the key blank to keep the current one), then Save. Click Delete to remove it; its server URL and key are deleted and live streams already scheduled to it lose it.
  3. For YouTube or Facebook, click Remove. The destination leaves the list, but the channel or Page stays connected and can be added again.

Reconnect or disconnect an account

  1. Go to Publish > Live Streaming > Destinations and find the account under Connected Accounts.
  2. If it shows Can't go live yet, click Reconnect and sign in again, allowing the permission it asks for.
  3. To sign out of an account, click Disconnect and confirm. Destinations using it stay, paused, and come back when you sign into the same account again. Nothing changes on YouTube or Facebook itself.

Troubleshooting

A destination says "Can't go live yet"

The reason is printed beside it. Common ones:

  • "Reconnect YouTube — it was connected without permission to go live." Click Reconnect on the YouTube account and allow managing live streams.
  • "Reconnect Facebook — its sign-in expired." Click Reconnect on the Facebook account.
  • "Choose the Facebook Page to stream to." Remove the destination and add it again with a Page.
  • "Enter the stream key." Click Edit on the custom RTMP destination and add the key.

"YouTube didn't connect" or "Facebook didn't connect"

The message ends with the reason, for example "the permission was declined" or "the sign-in link had expired — try again". Click the connect button on that tile again and allow everything it asks.

Facebook says it "did not confirm" a Page can go live

Facebook did not say either way. You can still add it; WorshipMetrics finds out at the first live stream and the destination says so if it cannot.

Go Live did not reach YouTube or Facebook

On the live stream's run screen, the Destinations card marks that row Failing with the platform's own reason. Then check the account here: an account connected without permission, or whose sign-in expired, shows Can't go live yet with a Reconnect button. The service stays on air on your watch page and every other destination.

I turned a destination off during a service

Turning a destination off mid-service stops WorshipMetrics sending to it. It does not always close YouTube's or Facebook's own live stream, and turning it back on can mean a new watch link for the people already watching there. Every other destination stays on air.

Good to know

  • The custom RTMP Stream key is stored encrypted and never shown again in full.
  • What every destination receives (one feed, one quality) is set on Publish > Live Streaming > Encoders.
  • Destinations for a live stream are prepared when it starts listening for the encoder, so the list is fixed from then on. Before that, change it on the live stream's details.
  • A relay cannot be proven before Go Live. After Go Live, each destination row on the run screen says Live, Starting or Failing.
