The Library is your church's archive of messages: every finished live stream and every video you upload, ready to trim, publish and share. People watch it on your public watch site. Each video in it is called a message.

Where to find it

Open Publish > Library. It works the same on the web app and in Tech Manager. The buttons along the top open the Library's other views: Tags, Series, Podcast, Settings and Trash, plus Upload video.

Under the buttons are two links you can copy: Watch page (the one link for your website and bulletin; it shows the live stream when you are live and your library the rest of the time) and Library (your past messages only).

Find a message

  1. Go to Publish > Library. Messages are listed newest first, by the date they happened.
  2. Type in Search titles, speakers and series to search by title, speaker or series name.
  3. Narrow the list with the dropdowns: Any status, Any visibility, and (once you have some) Any series, Any speaker and Any tag. Each choice shows how many messages match.
  4. To find messages on a passage, type it in the Scripture box, for example "Romans 5" or "Eph 6:11-17", and press Enter. A message filed as Romans 5:1-11 is found by "Romans 5".
  5. After you pick a series, click Open series to go to that series' own page.
  6. Click Clear filters (shown when nothing matches) to start over.

Read a message card

On Publish > Library, each card carries two separate marks:

  • Status: Draft (not public yet), Scheduled (has a publish time still to come) or Published.
  • Who can watch: Public, Unlisted or Private.

A Public draft is still not on your watch site; it goes public only when you publish it. The card also shows the length (a scissors mark means it is trimmed), the speaker and date, the series, and how many plays it has had. Click a card to open the message and edit it.

Each card has three small buttons: copy the public link, Edit in Reels, and Move to trash.

Upload a video you already have

Use this for a guest speaker filmed on a camera, an older service, or anything edited outside WorshipMetrics.

  1. Go to Publish > Library and click Upload video.
  2. In Upload a video, click Choose a video file and pick the file. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV files are accepted, up to 15 GB.
  3. Check the Title. It starts as the file name.
  4. Optional: choose a Series, or pick + Add series and type a New series name to make one on the spot.
  5. Click Upload. A progress bar shows the percentage and how much has been sent. Keep the window open until it finishes.
  6. When it is done, the new message opens. It is a draft, so nothing is public until you publish it.

If an upload stops partway, pick the same file again and the button says Resume: it carries on from where it stopped.

  1. Go to Publish > Library.
  2. On the card, click the copy button in the top corner. You see "Link copied".

The button is greyed out when there is no public link yet. Hover over it to see why: the message is still a draft, it is private, or your church's watch address could not be loaded.

Tidy speakers, topics and scripture

  1. Go to Publish > Library and click Tags.
  2. You see three lists: Speakers, Topics and Scripture, each with how many messages use it.
  3. Click a row to open the Library filtered to it.
  4. Open a row's menu (the three dots) to Rename it or Merge into… another spelling, so "Pastor Joy" and "pastor joy" become one entry in every filter.
  5. For a speaker you can also Upload photo…, Replace photo… or Remove photo. The photo shows beside their name on cards.
  6. A topic that no message uses any more can be removed with Delete.

Scripture is read-only here; it comes from the references on each message.

Delete a message, and get it back

  1. Go to Publish > Library. On the card, click Move to trash (or open the message and click Delete).
  2. Type the message's title exactly as shown, then click Move to trash. If the message is published you can choose Unpublish instead, which takes it off the watch site and podcast but deletes nothing.
  3. The message leaves the Library, the public archive and the podcast at once and waits in the Trash for 30 days.

To bring one back, click Trash at the top of Publish > Library, then Restore on its row. It returns exactly as it was. To remove one now, click Delete forever and type the title. That cannot be undone.

Change what visitors can do

  1. Go to Publish > Library and click Settings.
  2. Under Look of your watch pages, choose Classic (light, in your church colour, the default) or Cinematic (dark and full-screen, best when most messages have artwork). Use the Preview link under each look to see it. The same choice is on Publish > Watch Page.
  3. Turn the switches on or off. Each one saves as soon as you flip it:
    • Allow downloads: visitors can save a copy of a message. Off hides Download everywhere and the download link stops working.
    • Give on messages: a Give button on every message page, using the Give link set on Publish > Watch Page.
    • Show messages beside the passage: a message page lists your other messages on the same passage, and Present's Bible tab shows when you preached on a passage.

Embed the library or live stream on your website

  1. Go to Publish > Library, click Settings, and find Embed on your website.
  2. Choose Library or Live stream.
  3. For the Library, choose Full library, One series or Latest message only, then a Style (Match my page, Classic or Cinematic). For the live stream, choose Video only or Video and chat.
  4. Click Copy snippet and paste it into your website. If your site builder does not allow scripts, use Copy frame instead; it has a fixed height.

Troubleshooting

The Library is empty

"Nothing in the library yet" means no live stream has finished and nothing has been uploaded. A finished live stream lands here by itself as a draft. Click Upload video to add a file you already have.

I typed a passage and the list disappeared

If the Scripture box cannot read what you typed, the page says "We could not read ... as a scripture reference." Type a book with a chapter, like "Romans 5", or click Clear scripture.

My video will not upload

  • "That is not a video we can publish." Upload an MP4, a MOV, a WebM or an MKV.
  • "The limit for one upload is 15 GB." Export a smaller file and try again.
  • "Give this video a title." Fill in Title first.

The copy button on a card is greyed out

The message has no public link yet. Publish it, or change who can watch from Private to Unlisted or Public.

Give on messages is on, but there is no Give link. Add one on Publish > Watch Page.

Good to know

  • Your congregation sees the Library on your watch site: the library page ends in /watch/library, and one message's page ends in /watch/m/ followed by its short name. Only Public, published messages are listed there; Unlisted ones open only for people with the link.
  • Restoring a message whose recording was deleted while it sat in the Trash brings it back as a draft without video.
  • To edit one message (trim, thumbnail, share, password, documents, clips), see the message page article.
  • Series, the podcast and play counts have their own pages under Publish > Library.
