Reels turns a recorded service into short, captioned clips for social media. It listens to the recording, writes a transcript, and suggests the best moments (songs, scripture, sermon points, prayers). You keep the ones you like, style them, render them in the shapes you need, and post them to YouTube.

Where to find it

Open Publish > Reels. The page has three steps across the top: Find the moments, Make them look good and Share them. It works on the web app and in Tech Manager; the differences are listed under Good to know.

With nothing loaded, Reels shows your recordings by month, with search across every clip you have made, plus two cards: Recordings (every service your live streams recorded) and Exported reels (finished exports).

Load a recording

Do one of these on Publish > Reels:

  • Click + Upload a Recording (or Upload a recording on an empty page) and pick a video file.
  • Click From Library, search by title, speaker or series, and pick a message from your Library. Nothing is uploaded again. If the message is trimmed, Reels still loads the whole recording and starts the player at the message's start.
  • In the Recordings card, click Send to clips on a recorded service. It is then ready for Reels.

You can also open a message in Reels from the Library: on its card or its page, click Edit in Reels.

Once loaded, Reels analyses the recording. You see the progress ("Writing the transcript…", "Picking out the best moments…"). A full service can take several minutes, and you can leave the page while it works. To switch recordings, use the dropdown above the player, Upload another, or From Library. Back to all recordings returns to the list.

Pick the moments to keep

  1. Go to Publish > Reels and open a recording.
  2. Look through Moments we found. Each card shows its category, length, and why it was picked. A Key Moment ribbon marks the strongest ones.
  3. Narrow the list with the buttons (Most shareable, Songs, Scripture, Sermon) or the category chips, and change the Sort to Most shareable, Order in service or Longest first.
  4. Click Keep (the heart) on each clip you want. Click the X to pass on one.
  5. To change a clip's category, click its coloured tag and pick another.

Clips you keep are listed in Ready to share on the right.

Trim or slice a clip

  1. Go to Publish > Reels, open a recording, and click Trim on a clip (or click the clip).
  2. Drag the IN and OUT handles, or play to the right spot and click Set start here or Set end here. Go to start jumps to the clip's start; Play clip plays just the clip.
  3. To split one clip into two, put the playhead inside it and click Slice.
  4. Click Done when finished.

To get rid of a clip, use Remove clip on the web app or Delete clip in Tech Manager.

Make a clip from the transcript

  1. Go to Publish > Reels and open a recording.
  2. Open Transcript on the right. Type in Search the transcript… to find a phrase.
  3. Click a line's time to jump there. Click the scissors on the line where a clip should start, then on the line where it should end.
  4. Click Copy to copy the whole transcript.

Style your clips

  1. Go to Publish > Reels, keep at least one clip, and click the Render & share button under Ready to share (it counts your clips).
  2. Under Formats — pick one or several, choose Reels (9:16, for Instagram, TikTok and Shorts), Square (1:1, feed posts) and/or Wide (16:9, YouTube or a website). Each clip renders once per format.
  3. Under Captions, leave Burn captions onto the video on, then choose a style (Clean, Bold, High-contrast or Custom), Where on the screen, Size and Lettering. If captions feel early or late, use Timing nudge.
  4. Under Branding & extras, set the church name shown on clips, Logo watermark on clips, a Lower third (name and title bar), and an Intro bumper or Outro bumper.
  5. Under Cover image, pick a look, or Capture from clip or Upload image.
  6. Optional: click Save as my default look so the next clips start this way.
  7. Click Looks good — render & continue.

Post your clips

  1. On the Share them step of Publish > Reels, wait while each clip shows Rendering. It changes to Ready to post.
  2. Click play on a clip to watch the finished render.
  3. Click Post now to post it to YouTube. When it is posted, use View on YouTube.
  4. Or click Auto-schedule the week to spread the ready clips across Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.
  5. To render a clip again with your current settings, click the circular-arrow button.

The Exported reels card on the Reels landing page lists finished exports; Play opens one.

Find a clip you made before

  1. Go to Publish > Reels (with no recording open).
  2. Type in Search every clip, every recording…. It also searches what was said, so you can type a phrase you remember.
  3. Switch between By recording and All clips. In All clips, filter by category and sort by Newest first, Most shareable or Unused first. Each clip shows Posted, Scheduled or Never shared.
  4. Click See its clips or Find more moments › on a recording to go back into it.

Troubleshooting

"Analysis failed — the video is still imported"

Click Try again beside the message. The recording is kept, so you do not need to upload it again.

"This video hasn't been analyzed yet"

Click Find the moments to start the analysis.

Post now is greyed out

The clip is still rendering, or YouTube is not connected. Look at the YouTube chip at the top of the Share them step: on the web app click connect; in Tech Manager it says to connect in Settings.

A clip says "Render failed"

Click the circular-arrow button to render it again.

"Open Reels to continue"

Edit in Reels could not switch pages. Open Publish > Reels and use From Library instead.

Good to know

  • Tech Manager only: Export MP4 saves a single clip to a file on the computer, a folder button shows a finished render in Explorer, and you can add a logo or pick your own bumper files with Choose…. On the web app, the logo comes from Brand Kit.
  • To keep a plain (uncaptioned) song or moment as a downloadable file on either app, open the message in Publish > Library and use Clips there.
  • Your church colours and logo come from Brand Kit.
  • In the Recordings card, Trim & clip opens a simple cutter: Mark in, Mark out, then Save clip to library or Save as trimmed recording (the original is kept).
  • Reels works on recordings; it is not tied to a plan. Two streams on one Sunday are two recordings.
