Dashboard
On this page
The Dashboard is the booth at a glance: what is on Program, what is in Preview, the audio meters, the stream health, and short status cards for your devices, PTZ cameras and signage. You can cut to an input and start or stop streaming and recording from here.
Where to find it
Open Produce > Dashboard. It is the first page of the Produce group in both the web app and Tech Manager (the desktop app).
The two apps show the same page, but they get their picture differently:
- In Tech Manager, the Dashboard talks straight to the vMix, OBS or Blackmagic ATEM on the booth's network.
- On the web app, the Dashboard shows the booth through Tech Manager. It picks your church's booth that reports a connected vMix by itself, so there is no booth picker. Pictures are snapshots relayed from the booth and refresh every few seconds. Tech Manager must be running on the booth computer for the web Dashboard to show anything live.
Read the booth at a glance
On Produce > Dashboard you see:
- Video & Presentation — the Program picture on the right, with up to three other inputs beside it. The input in Preview comes first. Its tab turns orange and says PREVIEW; the input on Program turns green and says LIVE. The badge in the corner of the module says whether the switcher is connected.
- Audio Mix — the Master meter and, on vMix, the buses that exist on your switcher (shown as A, B, C…). On OBS the strips are its audio sources.
- Stream Health — small charts for Bitrate, Dropped frames and System CPU. The badge reads Live while a stream is reporting, or Last report when it is showing the last one.
- Status cards: AV Devices (how many are online, degraded, offline or stale), PTZ Cameras (how many are online, with the first few by name), and Digital Signage (screens online and playlists). In Tech Manager there is also a Live video relay card.
Click the Program picture to enlarge it. Click the dark backdrop or press Esc to close it.
Cut an input to Program
- Go to Produce > Dashboard.
- In Video & Presentation, hover an input tile. It shows CUT when it can be cut.
- Click the tile. That input goes straight to Program. On vMix, the input that was on Program moves to Preview.
The input already on Program cannot be clicked. On vMix, tiles for clips also show a play/pause button and overlay buttons 1 to 4. For a full switcher with transitions, a T-bar and every input, open Produce > Switcher (or choose Go to Switcher from the module's menu, the three dots in its corner).
Start or stop streaming and recording
- Go to Produce > Dashboard.
- Under the Program picture, click Start streaming or Start recording.
- The button turns red and reads Stop streaming or Stop recording while it runs. Click it again to stop.
On vMix, Start streaming starts every stream slot set up in vMix, not only the one pointed at WorshipMetrics. When Tech Manager reports more than one slot set up, you are asked first. The dialog Start every vMix stream? names them, for example "vMix will start all 3 stream slots: Stream 1 (Custom RTMP), Stream 2 (YouTube) and Stream 3 (Facebook Live)." Click "Start all 3" (the number matches your slots) to go ahead, or Cancel if an old slot should stay off. To start only the WorshipMetrics slot, use Start sending on the live stream's run screen in Publish > Live Streaming > Live Streams.
These buttons start the switcher's own stream and recording with the settings it already has. To stream to a scheduled live stream's destinations, pick the live stream with the Event button on Produce > Switcher first (vMix only). Going live on YouTube or Facebook is still done from Publish > Live Streaming > Live Streams.
Connect your switcher (Tech Manager)
- In Tech Manager, go to Produce > Dashboard.
- If a bar says your switcher is not connected, click Connect on that bar.
- For OBS on the same computer, click Set up automatically. Otherwise type the Host, Port and Password and click Connect to OBS.
- For vMix, type the Host and Port (default 8088) and click Connect to vMix. In vMix, turn on Settings → Web Controller first.
- To change which switcher the booth uses, open the module menu (three dots) and choose Connect OBS, Connect vMix or Connect ATEM.
The same connection settings are also under Settings > vMix and Settings > OBS Studio.
Use the Dashboard with a Blackmagic ATEM (Tech Manager)
- In Tech Manager, open the module menu on the Dashboard and choose Connect ATEM.
- In the Blackmagic ATEM card, type the ATEM IP and Port (default 9910) and click Connect to ATEM, or plug the ATEM in over USB-C and click Detect USB-C ATEM.
- Use Mix Effects (ME 1): click PGM to take an input to program or PVW to put it on preview, then Cut, Auto or FTB (fade to black).
- Run a stored macro from Macros, and choose what the HDMI and USB outputs carry under Video out.
- To trigger the ATEM from a MIDI controller, use MIDI Control: click Enable, then Add mapping, press a key on the controller, choose an Action and click Save mapping.
To go back, click Switch to OBS or Switch to vMix in the Blackmagic ATEM card. The ATEM controls are only in Tech Manager.
Turn on the live video relay (Tech Manager)
In Tech Manager on the booth, the Live video relay card on Produce > Dashboard gives the web app's Camera Control a live picture instead of snapshots.
- In Tech Manager, go to Produce > Dashboard.
- In Live video relay, click Install if it says Not installed, or Start if it says Ready (starts on demand).
- When it says Running, the web Camera Control can show live video.
Troubleshooting
The Dashboard says "Connect your video switcher" or shows no picture
In Tech Manager, connect the switcher from the bar at the top of the Dashboard (see above). On the web app, the bar reads "Open Tech Manager on the booth PC and connect vMix…": open Tech Manager on the booth computer, make sure vMix is running and connected there, and wait a few seconds. If the booth computer is not enrolled in your church's fleet, the web app cannot see it at all.
Tech Manager shows "Cloud fleet not connected"
The booth is not enrolled in your church's fleet, or the cloud is refusing its pairing, so the web app cannot see or control it: remote switching, camera control and health reporting are off. Click Connect on the bar, then Open fleet enrollment, and in Settings > Fleet Enrollment add this computer (again, if it was enrolled before).
Our booth runs OBS, but the web Dashboard says vMix is not connected
On the web app the Dashboard follows a vMix booth. To watch and switch an OBS booth from the web, use Produce > Switcher and pick the booth there.
Clicking Audio in the Audio Mix does nothing
On the web app, and for vMix in Tech Manager, the Audio Mix only shows levels. Mute and mix buses on Produce > Switcher in Tech Manager. With OBS in Tech Manager, Audio mutes and unmutes that source.
Start streaming asks "Start every vMix stream?"
vMix has more than one stream slot set up, and this button starts all of them, including any old destination left in a slot. Click Cancel if one of them should not go out, and clear that slot in vMix's stream settings. To send only to WorshipMetrics, use Start sending on the live stream's run screen instead: it starts only the WorshipMetrics slot.
Stream Health says "Waiting for samples..."
No stream health reports have arrived yet. They appear once a stream is running. Click a chart to open Publish > Live Streaming > Stream Health for the full view.
Good to know
- Clicking a camera name in PTZ Cameras opens it in Produce > Camera Control.
- The AV Devices card counts what is in Patch > Devices.
- The Digital Signage card counts the screens on Publish > Signage.
- The ATEM controls, the connect panels, the switcher choice and the Live video relay card exist only in Tech Manager, because they talk to hardware on the booth's network.
