Present is the screen you run slides from on a Sunday: song lyrics, scripture, announcements, pictures and videos on the projector, the lobby TVs and the stage monitors. Present's screens are called outputs, and they come in two groups: Audience (what the room sees) and Stage (what the band and speaker see).

Where to find it

Click Present in the sidebar. On the web app the address is /app/present; in Tech Manager it is the same Present row in the menu. Present works on both.

You can also open Present from a plan: go to Plan > Services, open the plan, and on its Order tab click Present in the toolbar above the items. Present opens with a playlist built from that plan.

The small pop-out button beside the Present row in the sidebar opens Present on its own. On the web app it says "Open Present in a new tab" and opens Present without the menu; click Main menu at the top left to get back. In Tech Manager it says "Open Present in a new window" and opens a second window that drives the same screens.

Know the parts of the Present screen

Present has four areas.

  1. The toolbar across the top. From left to right:
    • Present — the live view (the slide grid). The small triangle beside it opens the rooms menu.
    • Edit — change the slides of the open presentation.
    • Themes, Bible, Stage Layouts and Overlays — the other workspaces.
    • Settings — outputs, looks, audio, rooms, connections and storage for this computer.
    • Stats — measured frame rates and drops per output and per input.
    • Pop out — Tech Manager only; opens a second window on the same room and screens.
    • Back, Black and Logo — undo the last slide, go to black, or show the church logo.
    • Audience and Stage — turn the screens on and off.
    • At the far right, when you are in a room, the room's name, the people in it, and the Control / Observe switch.
  2. The left rail — Presentations (with buttons to search the church library, import from ProPresenter and add a new presentation), Library, Playlists and Loops, and under them the list you picked.
  3. The center — the open presentation's name and arrangement tabs, the slide grid, the slide transition controls, and the Media bin along the bottom.
  4. The right panel — Live · with a menu to pick which output to preview, the Audience monitor (what is on the screens now), the row of layer buttons under it, a play bar for audio and video, and the inspector tabs Audio, Overlays, Clocks and Macros.

When the window is narrow, the less-used tools fold into a three-dot More tools menu. Audience and Stage are never hidden.

Run slides for the first time

  1. Go to Present.
  2. In the left rail, click Library (every presentation and song) or one of your Playlists.
  3. Click a presentation in the list. Its slides fill the grid in the center.
  4. Click Audience in the toolbar. It turns green and reads, for example, "Audience · 1 live" when a screen is showing.
  5. Click a slide. It goes on the screens and shows a highlight in the grid and in the Audience monitor on the right.
  6. Press the Right arrow or Space for the next slide, or the Left arrow for the previous one.

For more on showing slides, clearing, black and the logo, see the going-live article.

Show or hide the side panels

  1. Go to Present.
  2. To hide the left rail, click the small arrow on the divider beside it ("Hide library & playlists"). To bring it back, click Library on the left edge.
  3. To hide the right panel, click the Output arrow at the top of it ("Hide output & inspector"). Click Output again to show it.
  4. To hide the media bin, click the chevron beside Media ("Hide media bin").
  5. To make any panel wider or taller, drag the divider between panels.

Use Present in a second window

  1. Go to Present in Tech Manager.
  2. Click Pop out in the toolbar (or open More tools and choose Pop out if the window is narrow).
  3. A second window opens. It drives the same room and the same screens, so you can, for example, keep the slide grid on one monitor and editing on another.
  4. To get back to the main window, click Main menu at the top left of the pop-out.

On the web app, use the pop-out button beside Present in the sidebar instead. It opens Present in a new browser tab without the menu.

Keyboard shortcuts

These keys work in the live view when you are not typing in a box and no menu or dialog is open:

  • Right arrow, Space or Page Down — next slide.
  • Left arrow or Page Up — previous slide.
  • Shift + Left arrow — Back: put back the slide the audience saw before this one.
  • B — turn black on or off.
  • Home — first slide. End — last slide.
  • Ctrl + Z — undo. Ctrl + Y or Ctrl + Shift + Z — redo.
  • Delete or Backspace — remove the selected playlist item (or ask before deleting a selected playlist).
  • Esc — closes the open menu or dialog. It never changes the screens: it does not go to black and does not clear anything.

Troubleshooting

Present says "Sign in to WorshipMetrics in this browser, then open Present again."

Your browser is not signed in. Sign in to WorshipMetrics in the same browser, then go to Present again.

Present says "This account cannot open Present."

The account you are signed in with is not connected to your church. Sign out and sign in with the account your church invited.

Present says "Could not reach the server."

The computer cannot reach WorshipMetrics. Check the internet connection and reload the page.

The slide buttons are greyed out and say "This window is observing"

This window is in a room and set to Observe: it follows along but cannot change the screens. At the right end of the toolbar, click Control. Editing presentations still works while observing.

I can't find Themes, Stage Layouts, Overlays or Stats

The window is narrow, so those tools moved into the three-dot More tools menu in the toolbar. Make the window wider or open that menu.

Good to know

  • The web app can drive screens plugged into the computer it runs on (in Chrome or Edge) and web-link outputs. NDI and DeckLink outputs, and NDI cameras, need Tech Manager on the booth computer. See the outputs article for details.
  • Everyone who has a presentation open is editing the same one; changes show up for others within about a second.
  • Settings in Present (the gear) holds only this computer's setup: Outputs, Looks, Audio, Rooms, Connections, Storage and Service check.
