This guide takes a booth from a fresh Tech Manager install to a switcher and cameras you can control from the web app. You do the first steps once, on the booth computer; after that, most things work from any browser.

How the pieces fit: Tech Manager is the desktop app on the booth computer. It talks to vMix, OBS, a Blackmagic ATEM and your PTZ cameras over the church network. The web app never talks to that gear directly; it sends your clicks to the booth's Tech Manager. So the booth computer must be on, with Tech Manager running, for the web app to switch or move cameras.

Step 1: Install Tech Manager and sign in

  1. Install Tech Manager on the computer in the booth that runs (or sits on the same network as) your switcher and cameras, and sign in. See the Tech Manager article for the install and sign-in steps.
  2. If Tech Manager shows Welcome to Tech Manager, its short setup scans the computer, connects your streaming software and scans the network. Those are the same things Steps 3 and 4 below do, so you can follow either.

Step 2: Enroll the booth computer in your church's fleet

Enrolling is what lets the web app see and control this booth.

  1. In Tech Manager, open Settings > Fleet Enrollment.
  2. Click Add this computer to your church (the button names it).
  3. If Tech Manager asks for a code instead: in the web app, open Settings > Fleet Enrollment, click Open enrollment codes (Account tab), then Generate enrollment code. Back in Tech Manager, paste the code and click Enroll. Codes expire in 30 minutes.
  4. When it works, the panel says the machine is enrolled in your church.

If neither the button nor the code option is offered to you, ask Luminos on Pulse > Support.

If you skip this, Tech Manager shows a "Cloud fleet not connected" bar on Produce > Dashboard, and the booth never appears in the web Switcher.

Step 3: Connect your switcher

  1. In Tech Manager, go to Produce > Dashboard.
  2. If a bar says the switcher is not connected, click Connect on it.
  3. OBS: if OBS is on this computer, click Set up automatically. Otherwise enter the Host, Port and Password and click Connect to OBS. OBS's WebSocket Server must be on.
  4. vMix: in vMix turn on Settings → Web Controller, then enter the Host and Port (default 8088) and click Connect to vMix.
  5. Blackmagic ATEM: open the module's menu (three dots), choose Connect ATEM, enter the ATEM IP and click Connect to ATEM, or click Detect USB-C ATEM if it is plugged in by USB-C.

You can also connect under Settings > vMix and Settings > OBS Studio. When it works, the Dashboard shows the Program picture and your inputs.

Step 4: Find your devices

  1. In Tech Manager, go to Patch > Devices and click Scan. A full sweep can take up to a minute. Found devices are identified and added to the list.
  2. If a Potential duplicates box opens, click Merge into existing or Ignore for each pair.
  3. Add anything the scan cannot see (projectors, mics, DI boxes, anything without a network connection) with Add device, and turn on No IP address (non-networked) for those.
  4. Have a drawing from your integrator? Click Import drawing instead and review what it read before importing.
  5. If some devices have a make and model but no ports, click Find missing ports.

Scanning only runs in Tech Manager. The other ways of adding devices also work on the web app.

Step 5: Turn on control for your PTZ cameras

  1. On Patch > Devices, click View on a camera.
  2. Open the Camera tab, turn on PTZ control, pick the Control protocol your camera supports (VISCA over IP or ONVIF PTZ), and add the RTSP stream URL if you want a picture.
  3. Click Apply changes.
  4. Open Produce > Camera Control. The camera is in the list. Move it with the arrows and store a few Position presets.

Or add a camera directly with Add camera on Produce > Camera Control.

Step 6: Wire your system on the Signal Map

  1. Go to Patch > Signal Map. Your devices are cards; any with no cable and no place yet wait in the Not yet wired tray.
  2. Drag from a port dot on one card to a port on another to draw each cable. Click Arrange to tidy the layout.
  3. Open the pill in the top-left corner. Work down the Setup list (Devices documented, Devices with ports, Cable ends on a jack, Devices wired) until it reaches 100%.

The support AI and the 910-WORSHIP phone line troubleshoot from this diagram, so a complete map means better help. Your cables also appear on Patch > Patches, where you can print a patch sheet.

Step 7: Check it from the web app

  1. On another computer, open the web app and go to Produce > Switcher. Your booth is listed with vMix connected or OBS connected. Click it and try a cut.
  2. Go to Produce > Camera Control and move a camera. The header shows which booth carried the command.
  3. For live camera video on the web (instead of snapshots), go back to Tech Manager on the booth, open Produce > Dashboard, and click Install (then Start if needed) on the Live video relay card.

Troubleshooting

The booth does not appear in the web Switcher

Check, on the booth computer: Tech Manager is open, it is enrolled (Step 2), and vMix or OBS is running and connected (Step 3). The web list refreshes by itself every few seconds.

Camera Control on the web says no Tech Manager is paired

The booth is not enrolled, or Tech Manager is closed. Do Step 2, keep Tech Manager running, then click Check now on the banner.

The scan found nothing, or missed a device

The scan only sees what the booth computer can reach on its network, and never finds gear without a network connection. Add those devices by hand.

The switcher shows as offline

vMix needs Web Controller turned on; OBS needs its WebSocket Server turned on. Then reconnect from Produce > Dashboard in Tech Manager.

Good to know

  • Tech Manager reminds you on Produce > Switcher and Produce > Camera Control while the computer is not enrolled; Open fleet enrollment takes you to the right place.
  • If the booth's main switcher is an ATEM, its controls are on Produce > Dashboard in Tech Manager, not on the Switcher page.
